MY THOUGHTS ON THE WEAVER'S WAY COOP GLUTEN FREE EXPO

01/29/2011

I was at the Weaver's way coop today  and it was fabulous.  they had lots of samples of Gluten Free Food from different companies. They had members from the National Foundation For Celiac Awareness there to answer any questions that people might have about Celiac Disease..  The staff at the Weaver's Way Coop were very helpful to any one that came in to learn more about Celaic Disease.
I met a woman who was with the NFCA she was a Psychotherapist, her name is Nicole M. Seitz.  She had told me that she mainly specializes with patients that have Celiac Disease to help them deal and cope with the disease.
Her web address is www.nicolemseitz.com
Nicole M. Seitz's telephone number is 267 971 5729

I hope this information is helpful to you

SUPER EASY HOME MADE MOISTURIZING GLUTEN FREE HAIR CONDITIONER

Hi I just wanted to let you know about a conditioner that actually was told me from the owner of Desert Wind Skin Care.
He had  told me that your hair the first few times might feel and look different since you are using no chemicals in your hair.  He had told me that your Shampoo bar is a super organic product for the hair so the hair does not know how to react to it.  It is used to the chemical shampoos.  He said to fix this just for the first couple of times using the Shampoo Bar afterwards make up a mixture of vinegar and water.  I thought he was a little out there at first and I went online and sure enough they have the benefits of using Vinegar as a hair conditioner.  I told this to my hair dresser and she said that when she first started working in her Dad's Hair Salon that is what he used as a hair conditioner .  I decided to give it a go but I decided if I was going to do this I was going to use the Pure Apple Cider vinegar which is supposed to be more moisturizing then the white vinegar.  My hair is a little bit on the dry side.  I got the Bragg's Apple Cider Vinegar and made up a hair conditioning Rinse .  This Rinse for me was in a 16 oz cup.  My hair is just above my shoulders.  I get a 16 oz. plastic cup and fill it with the Bragg's apple Cider Vinegar,.  After shampooing my hair with the Desert Wind Shampoo Bar  and rinse the suds off my hair I pour the vinegar mixture over my hair. ( of course you got to have your eyes closed during this so none gets in your eyes)  Your eyes will burn very badly if the vinegar rinse gets in your eyes.  You leave it on for about a minute depending on how dry your hair is and rinse it off again with cool water.  My hair comes out really very shinny full of volume and well conditioned .  Once your hair dries you do not smell the vinegar in the hair.
I use this all the time to help my hair look its best.  I particularly like doing this in the winter months it really helps with any dry scalp issues from having electric base board heating in my house and the cold weather outside.  The Desert wind skin Care shampoo Bars really help out a lot with moisturizing my hair but in the winter months I need that extra jump start in keeping my scalp in good condition.  The Vinegar mixture is also helpful for the summer months when you are out in the sun a lot.  It helps out with not drying out your hair.  the Desert Wind Skin Care shampoo Bars are also good because they are so natural that they help if you color your hair to keep in the color longer.   Another nice benefit you save on hair coloring.  If you do not color your hair and your hair is starting to turn grey it will prolong your hair from turning grey..
I hope this is helpful for you.

Thank you

GLUTEN FREE MAKE UP , SKINCARE & MEN'S PERSONAL SKIN CARE PRODUCTS

I also wanted to let my readers know about a website that I have that has Gluten Free all Natural Cosmetics, Skin Care and Men's Gluten Free Shaving Cream Antiperspirants and Deodorants..
They also have Gluten Free tooth Paste and Mouthwashes.
I love these products , they work well and I know they are safe to use
The website is www.ellensglutenfreeskins.nsedreams.com
Once you  are on the website push shop then on the bottom right hand corner of the page push full catalog..
You will see headings in the middle of the page that have the different names of products.
I like the Nu skin and Epoch lines the best.  They also have vitamins and nutritional supplements on the page.
Each product has a button to learn more which is great it is always updated with any changes they have made for the product.  On the Learn More button you know fully about the product and then you can push ingredients just to double check if  they have not changed the product's ingredients to make sure that it is still gluten free. The vitamin supplements are under the heading Pharmanex..
On the bottom of the page there is a link for Gluten Free Products and supplements this has not gone into effect yet I am working on this with the site engineers.  When we have accomplished this I will let you know but like I said before you can always check the ingredients by pushing the learn more button  and the ingredient button to make sure that a product is still gluten free.  The lipsticks are fabulous, they are super moisturizing and stay on your lips.  I love the fact they have Gluten Free Toothpaste and Mouthwashes.
so please take a look at this website to learn more about these products,  I think you will be quite happy with these products.  I  also like the fact that they have products that are gluten free for men.

Thank You

INFORMATION FOR NEW CELIAC PATIENTS

This following information that I am writing about for new Celiac patients is mainly information that can help you in the Philadelphia Pennsylvania and surrounding areas.  This is information that I have come across when researching Celiac disease and finding where to get help.  If you live in the Philadelphia or surrounding areas there is a new Celiac Center at the Paoli Hospital.  It is run by Dr. Keith Laskin, to find  out more information about him you can go to their website at www.mainlinehealth.org, they will have a bio on him.
The telephone number to make an appointment with Dr. Keith Laskin is 610 644 6755.
This center is a Celiac & Diabetes Center .  They have two Nutritionist on staff Maryanne Martin and Kathy Chincola.
They can be reached at the following telephone number 484 565 8020 to set up an appointment with a nutritionist.

The following are some really good websites that I have come across to help you manage your condition.
www.celiaccentral.org run by Alice Bast, her telephone number is 215 325 13 06.  She is outstanding she really helped me out.  Alice Bast and her staff members really helped me out.  She took the time to listen to my questions that I had and to give me the right answers for those questions and if she was tide up at the moment when I called for more information she would direct me to one of her staff members that could help me out

www.glutenfreeworks.com run by John Libonati and Cleo Libonati.  Their telephone number is 215 591 4565.  This is another fabulous website for getting information on Celiac Disease.
When I first started to talk to one of the owners ( John Libonati ) he also really listened to me .  He asked me a lot of questions like are do you have Diabetes?  I answered yes.  He asked me is it type 1 or type 2 Diabetes?  I answered him type 1 Diabetes.  He said to me you should have been tested for Celiac Disease when you were first diagnosed with Diabetes and every year after.  He asked me what blood work did they do to diagnose you when you were diagnosed with Celiac disease.  I told him they did a gene test and a Celiac panel.  He asked what was the result for the gene test?  I answered him that I had the two main genes for Celiac Disease DQ2 and DQ8 .  He told me that means that one gene came from my father and one gene came from my mother.  He then asked did they do any other tests?  I answered no .  He said to me you need to check your Ferritin levels ( which is your stored iron in your bones ) vitamin B and vitamin D.  the best advice I have for you is to get my Moms book.  It will help you out a lot and I will always be here for you and let all your friends know about us
The name of the book is Recognizing Celiac Disease by Cleo Libonati.  This book is a God Send to me it is a Bible on Celiac Disease it is meant for the beginner the old timer with Celiac Disease and any medical professional that has patients that have this condition. In the book it tells you every step of the way how to deal with Celiac Disease.  It talks about what autoimmune diseases are effected with this condition and what blood tests you should have done for vitamin deficiencies. On the website ( www.glutenfreeworks.com ) John Libonati also has a newsletter that you can sign up for to get all the information you will need.

I volunteer for the Greater Philadelphia Celiac Support Group.  This group has really helped me out with lots of up to date information on Celiac Disease.  They meet twice a year at the Abington Memorial Hospital..
This Celiac Support Group is run by Karen Dalyrmple and Alice Bast.  It costs 25.00 the first year when joining the Greater Philadelphia support Group and 20.00 a year there after.  You get a lot  of information for the cost to join.  You get a welcoming package that consists of a binder full of everything you will need to get started on learning how to deal with this disease and a binder you can keep going back to help  you along the way.  You get two newsletters that are sent to you  throughout the year, they will have information in the newsletter on more new products that have become gluten free.  You will also know what vendors will be at the meeting and what speaker will be at the meeting .  These Support meetings are always held on the third Friday in October and the third Friday in March.  You will always get the newsletter before the date of the meeting.  If you would like to join The Greater Philadelphia Celiac Support Group  you can do so by calling Karen Dalyrmple at 215 757 1233.

Finally at the Super Giant Store in WillowGrove PA   they have a nutritionist on staff that you can call to set up an appointment with her to have a tour of the store with all the items you can have on a gluten free diet.
Her name is Maryanne Moreland  and her telephone number is 215 784 1960.  You can reach her when calling that number by pushing option 1 then option 4.  the address to the Super Giant Store is
315 North York Road
WillowGrove PA  19090

Giant Food Store in Plymouthmeeting Pa  19462 Does not give tours of the store but they do have a young lady there that has helped me out a lot with getting products in that I would like to see in the store.
Michelle Long You can call her @ 610 941 5448 just push option 2 for Customer Service and ask to speak to Michelle Long in the gluten Free & Organics Section.  The gluten Free & organics section is in aisles 1 and 2 in the store.

A few more websites that came across my desk
www.csaceliacs.org

www.glutenfreehelp.info   This is run by Tina Turbin She gives reviews for new and old gluten free products
It is a really good website to see what is about to come on board for new Gluten free products

www.gluten.net

A great Comprehensive Resource Guide By Shelley Case ( Dietitian ) The Book ( Gluten-Free Diet )

It has over 2600 gluten - free specialty foods listed by company and product name
Directory of more than 190 American, Canadian and international companies
Creative ideas for meals and snacks
Recipes and baking tips
www.glutenfreediet.ca

www.celiacprincess.com

www.delightgfmagazine.com
This is a gluten free magazine that has a lot of great information along with tips on the gluten free diet, recipes  and other resources to help  you out with learning the ins and out of this complex disease
They have a weekly newsletter that you can sign  up to get emails

www.customchoicecereal.com          I love  love this website this is a website that you make your very own gluten free cereal mixture.
You have a choice first of a cereal base which consists of
Cinnamon Granola                  Organic Corn Flakes               Natural Organic Mixture Of Flakes
Then you put in what regular or organic dried fruits you would like to put into it, then you have a choice of what nuts and grains you wold like to put into it
Any time you put something into your mixture it tells you how much calories how much fiber and how much other nutritional values are in your cereal that you are creating.  The best part I like about this  is that at the end when you have finished making you r cereal you get to name it, so it is uniquely yours that you have made.  This would also be good if yu have children with Celiac disease because they can do it as a family and it can be something that they have made together that they can be proud of to have made.

www.stonewallkitchen.com  I love this company it is a company that sells jams and other ditchen items but they did not have any gluten free items other then their jams.  Their jams are fabulous and I asked if they could make gluten free items , they had said that they are working on it an d when they do they will let me know about them.  I just received an email from them yesterday and they now have gluten free baking items such as Brownies Pancake mixes and other mixes that look out of this world.  I spoke with Stacy Burss at Stone Wall Kitchen, she said that her daughter is a Celiac so she wanted gluten free items   She has told me tha tthese mixes are really very good that you will never know that they are gluten free they taste even better then the gluten items.  their telephone number  is1-800 -207-JAMS.  If you would like to talk to someone about their gluten free items ask to speak with Stacy Burrs and she can help you .

www.glutenfreebeat.com  A great website for getting information about new products.

DESERT WIND SKIN CARE

01/15/2011

I just wanted to let you know about a company that I really love , the companies name is Desert Wind Skin Care run by Chuck Wellman.
I found this company quite by accident, I was looking for a unscented hypo allergy shampoo and came across his website.  He had a shampoo bar that looked right up my alley .  It was a shampoo soap and conditioner in a 4 oz bar.  It was Gluten free allergy Free and Chemical Free and it only had 6 ingredients in it.
The shampoo bar is made up of Saponified oils of olive, coconut, palm, castor, and emu oil .  it also has in it  lard glycerol, cayenne pepper and citric acid as a preservative.  It comes in a 4 oz bar and sells for 6.47 a bar.  I tried it out and it was like my hair became alive again and it was full of volume.  It was not dried out at all after one shampoo.
For me since I became a Celiac my hair constantly would feel dried out and my scalp would itch and have hives to it no matter what product I was using for a shampoo or a conditioner.  when I tried this shampoo  bar that alll changed for the better.  I now only use his line of products which can be found at the website www.desertwindskincare.com
He has lotions and creams that are just as good he has a body lotion that I love that just makes my skin have a healthy glow to it and like I said before come alive.  His products help out with blood flow and circulation throughout the skin and blood system.  His products only have 6 ingredients in them they are made up of essential oils , emu oil and citric acid as a preservative.  His Emulo Gold Body Lotion I love it really helps with softening the skin and making it supple .  It is an instant soothing relief from dry irritated skin.  I also like it to put around my eye area and face .  It magically takes away any imperfections that have come upon my eye are or face .  It seems to draw away any puffiness or lines in my face and neck area.
I love this company so much you have to try out these products, you will not be sorry and best of all there is a full money back guarantee if you are not delighted with the products so how can you lose.  The owner Chuck Wellman is always looking for new distributors to sell his products .  If you are looking for a job in natural Personal Care Products give Chuck Wellman a call.  His cell phone number is 1 713 823 6847 and his telephone number is 1 936 776 3964.  The Shampoo Bars come in unscented and scented.
There are many scents to choose for your liking.

His website once again is www.desertwindskincare.com

Thank You
